Renault Mégane E-Tech Electric (video). The first 100% electric Megane

Anonim

After many teasers, Renault finally showed the full Megane E-Tech Electric , a 100% electric crossover that extends Renault's electric offensive to the C-segment.

The name is known to everyone, and it couldn't be otherwise, or we weren't talking about a true sales success for the French brand. But of the Mégane we know — now in its fourth generation — all that remains is the name, with this E-Tech Electric advancing into “unknown territory”. After all, this is the first 100% electric Megane.

We traveled to the outskirts of Paris (France) and got to know him firsthand — at an event reserved for journalists — before his first public appearance, which took place at the 2021 Munich Motor Show.

We evaluated the proportions, sat down inside it and got to know how the electric drive system that will serve as its base will be. And we show you everything in the most recent video from Reason Automobile's YouTube channel:

Built on the CMF-EV platform, the same as the basis for the Nissan Ariya, the Renault Mégane E-Tech Electric can adopt two types of batteries, one with 40 kWh and the other with 60 kWh.

In any case, the 100% electric Mégane is always powered by a front electric motor (front wheel drive) that produces 160 kW (218 hp) and 300 Nm with the larger capacity battery and 96 kW (130 hp) in the version with the smaller battery.

As for autonomy, those responsible for the French brand only announced the value for the version with the higher capacity battery: 470 km (WLTP cycle), and the new Mégane E-Tech Electric will be able to travel 300 km between charges on a highway.

When the battery runs out, it's good to know that this 100% electric crossover is capable of handling loads of up to 130 kW. At this power, it is possible to charge 300 km of autonomy in just 30 min.

When arrives?

The Mégane E-Tech Electric, which will be built at the production unit in Douai, in northern France, arrives on the Portuguese market in early 2022 and will be sold in parallel with the “conventional” versions of the Mégane: hatchback (two volumes and five doors), sedan (Grand Coupe) and van (Sport Tourer).
