Nothing is faster than the Rimac Nevera in the quarter mile

Anonim

With 1914 hp and 2360 Nm of torque, the Rimac Nevera it could only be… ballistic. The Croatian electric hypersport had previously shown how absurdly fast it was, when it was placed in a drag race (starting test) against the Ferrari SF90 Stradale.

Nobody can accuse the SF90 Stradale of being slow, but its 1000 hp could do nothing against its rival with almost twice as much power. Carwow's Mat Watson achieved an incredible 8.62sec on the Nevera in the classic quarter-mile (402m), one second short of the Italian supercar.

It's the difference between being fast, very fast, and absurdly fast.

Now, the DragTimes channel took a Rimac Nevera to a specific track for this type of competition and managed to improve this time, reaching the world record in the quarter mile for a production car.

With an incredible time of 8.58s and a speed of 269.5 km/h by DragTimes' Brooks Weisblat made the Rimac Nevera the world's fastest production car in the quarter mile. And with the detail of the electric hyper sports car being equipped with road tires, a Michelin Pilot 4S — impressive.

We put the video at the point where the record attempt begins, but it wasn't the only one. On the very first attempt, Nevera did a crushing 8.74s, dropping to 8.61s on the next attempt (see the video at the beginning to see them and learn more about Rimac Nevera).

To get an idea of how fast it is, the Tesla Model S Plaid, with 1020 hp (almost half), has been doing 9.2s (and 245 km/h) in the same exercise on tracks also specific for the purpose.

crazy acceleration

As if that wasn't enough, the measuring equipment used inside the car gave us even more numbers about its acceleration, which at first glance seem unbelievable.

The best time recorded from 0 to 100 km/h was 2.21s (no rollout) and the 200 km/h was reached in an amazing 5.19s! But it doesn't stop here…

Rimac Nevera

In order to have a clearer idea of the Rimac Nevera's acceleration capacity, whatever its speed, the following values could not be more explicit: 2.95s to go from 100 km/h to 200 km/h, and 200 km /h at 250 km/h, just a surreal 2.36s is enough. It's “eye wide open”…

The Rimac Nevera sets the bar very, very high, for all the other electric hypersports to come. Will we see more builders wanting to usurp the crown of the fastest electric hypersport ever? We know of at least one who will certainly want his opportunity to do so: Tesla Roadster — which has since been pushed to 2022.
