Kia Proceeding. Spy photos anticipate the "face wash" later this year

When we saw it for the first time, still in 2018, the Kia Proceed surprised by its fluid and stylized appearance and by the name — Proceed, until then, was the name of the three-door version of the Ceed and now it was associated with a stylized van.

Now, with the third anniversary approaching, its update is already being prepared — as these spy photos in national exclusive show — and it is expected that it will be officially unveiled later this year. Predictably, this “face wash” and range update should be extended to the rest of the Ceed range.

The front and the front of this test prototype are covered, letting you guess which areas will focus the visual changes. Even so, we managed to see a more three-dimensional development grid compared to the current one, which will be complemented with new bumpers.

At the back, at least taking into account this prototype and the little it shows, there are no differences, even though the “core” of the optics could also be modified. As a curiosity, it is already possible to see on the wheels of this Kia Proceed the new and more stylized logo of the South Korean brand.

Inside, and in light of the brand's latest developments, the news should focus, above all, on the technological field. For example, the introduction of the latest evolution of the UVO Connect infotainment system, which is to be accompanied with a new and larger touchscreen.

Given the technical proximity to the Hyundai i30 (which was also renewed last year), the innovations in the field of powertrains from Proceed (and the rest of the Ceed family) should reflect them.

In particular, the addition of mild-hybrid 48 V systems to the already known engines, namely the 1.0 T-GDI and the 1.6 CRDI; as well as the introduction of the new 160 hp 1.5 T-GDI 48 V. At the top should continue to reside the 1.6 T-GDI with 204 hp.

Kia Ceed SW and XCeed include a plug-in hybrid variant in their respective ranges, and it remains to be seen whether this option will be extended to Proceed with this update.
