For those wanting a plug-in hybrid Volvo V90, until now they could only count on the 392 hp T8 Recharge version. From now on, there will be an option a little more accessible, the V90 T6 Recharge , of 340 hp.

Despite the power differential, the driveline is identical between the two variants, namely: both have a 2.0 l gasoline engine with turbo and compressor, an electric motor of 88 hp and 340 Nm and a four-wheel transmission via an eight-speed automatic (torque converter) gearbox.

The big difference lies in the power delivered by the combustion engine: 253 hp (and 350 Nm) in the T6 Recharge and 303 hp (and 400 Nm) in the T8 Recharge. This results in the different numbers of maximum power and maximum torque combined: 340hp and 590Nm for the T6 Recharge and 392hp and 640Nm for the T8 Recharge.

Naturally, being less powerful, the performance of the T6 Recharge suffers a little, but even so, the 5.9s announced at 0-100 km/h are quick q.b. for the dimensions and mass (2100 kg) of the V90.

The new Volvo V90 T6 Recharge also maintains the same battery as its more powerful sister, in other words, a capacity of 11.6 kWh that allows it to travel up to 55 km in 100% electric mode.

The official WLTP combined cycle consumption and CO2 emissions of the new T6 Recharge are also identical, ranging from 2.0-2.7 l/100 km to 46-61 g/km, depending on the level of equipment chosen. Speaking of which, there are four available: Inscription Expression, Inscription, R-Design Expression and R-Design.

Prices for the new Volvo V90 T6 Recharge start at 71,090 euros, approximately 3100 euros more affordable than the T8 Recharge.
