Volvo Cars has just announced the facelift of its mid-range SUV, the XC60, which has received — among other things — a new Android infotainment system with applications and services from Google.

The Swedish brand's best-selling model since 2009, totaling more than 1.68 million units sold worldwide, also saw its retouched look, although the changes go almost unnoticed.

Aesthetically, only the new front grille and the redesigned front bumper stand out, although new wheel designs and new body colors were also presented.

Rear section was not visually altered.

The visual changes inside the cabin are limited to new finishes and materials, although it is precisely inside this XC60 that the biggest news is hidden.

We are talking, as we started by referring above, about the new Android infotainment system, developed in partnership with Google, which has integrated features and applications from the technology company.

Volvo XC60 - Android System

Google systems are now available natively in the infotainment system of the new XC60.

Available on the new Volvo XC40 Recharge and C40 Recharge, and once subscribed to the digital services package, this system allows access to programs such as Google Maps, Google Assistant and Google Play, all without the need for a smartphone.

Engines do not change

As far as powertrains are concerned, Volvo has not made any mention, so we can assume that the Swedish SUV will maintain the current engine offering.

These are formed by the mild-hybrid or B4 semi-hybrid proposals, which can have a 197 hp gasoline engine or a Diesel block with the same power; the mild-hybrid B5 with a 235 hp diesel engine; and, finally, by the Recharge variants, which identify the range's plug-in hybrid proposals: T6 AWD (340 hp), T8 AWD (390 hp) and Polestar Engineered (405 hp). Versions with non-electrified engines were discontinued in this generation.

When arrives?

The renewed Volvo XC60 goes into production at the end of next May and the first units will start being delivered in June. At the moment, prices have not yet been advanced.
