THE Honda CRX remains one of the most emblematic models of the Japanese brand. And if it has often been in the news for its strength and reliability, it is now the protagonist for different reasons.
A 1990 national Honda CRX has just been put on sale in Portugal, which has been “resting” since the day it left the Honda dealership, in Lisbon, over 30 years ago.
Since then, this well-known Japanese sports car has covered just 17 km and may well be the CRX with the lowest mileage in the world.

The reasons of interest around this unit are obvious: finding a car that is over 30 years old, with only 17 km built and totally original is something truly special. But there's more: this Japanese coupé has only known one owner.
In addition, the stickers scattered around the body, still intact, are further proof that this 31-year-old Honda CRX is… new. The inscriptions on the cabin buttons are as visible as on the first day — some of them may never have been used.
On the outside, and in addition to the immaculate bodywork, the rim caps and the original tires stand out. And even though the rubber grip has seen better days, visually they are new, not least because the owner of this CRX took care to keep it during all these years always on top of four sloths.
Inside, everything is new, with no signs of wear and tear. From the steering wheel to the gearbox lever, through the baquet-style seats and mats that since 1990 have kept a protector with the dealer's name on it.
«Forgotten» for 30 years. Why?
But by now you might be wondering why this CRX has been out of action for so many years. According to our colleagues at Escape Livre, it is said that the owner had some fear of driving it after a troubled first trip.
Superstition? Very likely.
As for the engine, the “fat” numbers are worth remembering: it is a 1.6-litre, 16-valve block with 130 hp and 144 Nm of maximum torque, capable of “climbing” up to 7300 rpm.
The engine still has the original oil and the entire compartment is exactly as it came from the factory — only the battery is no longer the original.
A priceless unicorn?
For all that, this Honda CRX unit is something of a unicorn. The state it's in is almost unbelievable. But unlike unicorns, this CRX exists and is for sale in our country, by the hand of Garagisti, which only offers the price on request.
