Mobilize Limo. The Renault Group's new electric saloon that we can't buy

Anonim

Since it is designed for the sole purpose of fulfilling the needs of mobility services, it will not be possible to buy the new Mobilize Limo as a vehicle for private use.

The electric saloon will only be available through a subscription service, to which we can also optionally add various packages (warranties and maintenance or charging solutions) and mobility solutions (flexibility in the duration of the contract or in the kilometers traveled annually, etc.) .

This is the response of the Renault Group to a market (ride-hailing, TVDE as they are known in Portugal, and private car rental) which, it is expected, will grow substantially in Europe by 2030: from 28 billion euros today to €50 billion at the end of the decade.

Mobilize Limo

Mobilize Limo, an electric sedan

As for the vehicle itself, it is an electric saloon (four-door sedan) with dimensions close to those of a typical D-segment: 4.67 m long, 1.83 m wide, 1.47 m high and a wheelbase of 2.75 m. It comes equipped with 17-inch wheels and is only available in three colors… neutral: metallic black, metallic gray and bright white.

The interior, sober in decoration (but has ambient light with seven tones to choose from), is dominated by two screens, arranged horizontally and next to each other, one with 10.25″ for the instrument panel and the other with 12.3 ″ for the infotainment system.

This allows for quick smartphone pairing. Taking into account the specific use of Limo, its drivers will use their own mobile devices to navigate and access electronic platforms.

Mobilize, however, will make available a mobile application that will allow remote access to various features and location of the vehicle (opening/closing doors, charging, etc).

Inside

Bearing in mind that it will be used for mobility services, the rear seats are particularly highlighted.

The rear doors have a generous opening angle and Mobilize says the Limo is able to comfortably seat three passengers in the second row of seats. One of the reasons is the fact that the vehicle floor is flat, and there is no intrusive transmission tunnel (being electric, there is no need to have one) to get in the way.

Rear passengers also have cup holders (integrated in the folding armrest in the middle), two USB plugs, ventilation outlets and can even control the sound volume.

The luggage compartment of the Mobilize Limo, on the other hand, turns out not to be very impressive, with only 411 l of capacity, a somewhat modest value considering the exterior dimensions of this sedan. Underneath the tread, however, is an emergency spare tire.

As you would expect, it comes with all the equipment expected from a car today, from LED headlamps (with a specific luminous signature) to an “arsenal” of advanced driving assistants. From adaptive cruise control, to roadside maintenance assistant, to blind spot detector or rear traffic crossing alert.

450 km of autonomy

Driving the Limo is an electric motor of 110 kW (150 hp) and 220 Nm. It can reach 100 km/h in 9.6s and the maximum speed is limited to 140 km/h. It has three driving modes (Eco, Normal and Sport) and three levels of regenerative braking available.

The battery it equips has a total capacity of 60 kWh, which will guarantee a range of around 450 km (WLTP certification still pending) — according to Mobilize, more than enough to cover the 250 km/day that most drivers perform in this type of services.

Finally, Mobilize promises compatibility with the most common types of charging systems, whether alternating current (AC) or direct (DC), without specifying charging powers. However, it announces that with fast charging (DC) it can recover 250 km of autonomy in 40 minutes.
