Tarraco e-HYBRID. All about SEAT's new plug-in hybrid

It took time, but it didn't fail. After about a year we met him at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the SEAT Tarraco e-HYBRID , the plug-in hybrid variant of the Spanish SUV, has now entered production.

Third electrified model from SEAT (don't forget that the Spanish brand already has the plug-in hybrid variants of the Leon and the Mii electric), visually the Tarraco e-HYBRID is practically identical to the variants equipped only with a combustion engine.

Thus, the main differences arise in the mechanical chapter, an area in which the SEAT Tarraco e-HYBRID “marries” the 1.4 TSI of 150 hp with a 115 hp (85 kW) electric motor powered by a lithium-ion battery with 13 kWh.

The end result is a combined maximum power of 245 hp and a torque of 400 Nm that are managed via a six-speed automatic DSG gearbox.

Driving modes abound

With a 100% electric autonomy of up to 49 km (WLTP cycle), the Tarraco e-HYBRID always starts in electric mode while the battery has enough charge. When the battery charge drops below a certain level or the speed exceeds 140 km/h, the SEAT SUV automatically switches to Hybrid mode.

Speaking of driving modes, in addition to Hybrid modes (automatic or manual) we have s-Boost mode (sporter) and e-Mode, which makes it easier to drive in urban areas in 100% electric mode.

Thanks to all this, the SEAT Tarraco e-HYBRID announces CO2 emissions between 37 and 46.4 g/km and consumption between 1.6 and 2 l/100 km (WLTP cycle).

Finally, with regard to charging, through a wallbox with 3.6 kWh it is possible to recharge the battery in 3.5 hours. With a 2.3 kW outlet, charging time is a little less than five hours.

When arrives?

Expected to reach the market in the first quarter of 2021, we still don't know how much the new SEAT Tarraco e-HYBRID will cost in Portugal.

What we already know is that this will be presented in two levels of equipment — Xcellence and FR — and will be available in a five-seat version.
