Bussink GT R. German designer created a Mercedes-AMG GT R Speedster

Inspired by the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Stirling Moss and the Mercedes-Benz F1 single-seaters, Roland A. Bussink, a German designer, has just created a speedster out of the Mercedes-AMG GT R Roadster.

Called Bussink GT R SpeedLegend, this speedster is launched at a time when several manufacturers have launched special series of models with this type of bodywork. We are talking about models like the Monza SP1 and SP2 from Ferrari, the Aston Martin V12 Speedster or the McLaren Elva, which we have already had the opportunity to drive.

Limited to just five copies, all built by HWA AG — the company that makes the DTM and Formula E cars for Mercedes-Benz —, the Bussink GT R SpeedLegend kept the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 block that powers the Mercedes-AMG GT R and GT R Roadster, but saw power rise from 585 hp to an impressive 850 hp.

But if this upgrade surprises, even if the official features of the model have not been disclosed, it is the aesthetic changes that make this Bussink GT R SpeedLegend so special.

It all started with the body of an AMG GT R Roadster. From there, the windshield was cut, making way for a small deflector that “hugs” the entire cabin, and a safety arch was installed to protect the occupants of this speedster in the event of a rollover.

Various bodywork reinforcements were also operated to keep the model's rigidity intact, and several air intakes were added to the bodywork, as well as various carbon fiber elements. After all, it was possible to save 100 kg compared to the standard AMG GT R Roadster.

That this Bussink GT R SpeedLegend is a special project, no one has doubts. It remains to be seen what price to pay for this unprecedented speedster. The value has not been announced, but it is known that all copies have already been sold.
