Tesla Model Y (2022). The best electric crossover?

Anonim

Introduced in 2019, the Tesla Model Y has finally arrived on the Portuguese market and we are already driving it. This is the second crossover of the North American brand and derives directly from the Model 3, although its profile refers to the “larger” Model X.

In this first phase it is only available in the Long Range version and with two electric motors, with prices starting at 65,000 euros, 7100 euros more than the equivalent Model 3.

But is this price difference justified and is the Model Y convincing? The answer is in the latest video from our YouTube channel, where we put the Tesla Model Y to the test on national roads:

Model Y numbers

Equipped with two electric motors, one per axle, the Tesla Model Y produces 258 kW, the equivalent of 350 hp, with the torque being sent to all four wheels.

The electrical system also has a lithium-ion battery (supplied by LG) with a useful capacity of 75 kWh and which allows this Model Y to claim a range of 507 km, in accordance with the WLTP cycle.

This electric crossover also announces consumptions of 16.8 kWh/100 km and during this test we were able to always walk around this register. As for charging, the Model Y supports up to 150 kW of direct current and up to 11 kW of alternating current.

As for performances, it is important to say that the acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is achieved in just 5s, while the maximum speed is fixed at 217 km/h.

Space, space and more space

The crossover format doesn't deceive: the Tesla Model Y asserts itself as a very suitable model for family use, offering very generous space in the rear seats and a segment-referenced load space: 854 liters in the rear luggage compartment and 117 liters in the front luggage compartment.

With the rear seats folded down, the load volume amounts to an impressive 2041 litres.

But if inside the Model Y space is the watchword, the technological offer and the finishes also appear at a very high level.

The style and layout are no different from what we already know about the Tesla Model 3. And that's good news.

The synthetic leather of the seats and steering wheel, together with the wood and metal found on the dashboard, are just the right measure and help to create a very welcoming atmosphere.

But the main highlights are the 15” central screen and the steering wheel, which in addition to a very comfortable grip has a very simple operation, based on just two physical controls that allow us to control almost all the functions of the central panel.
