Launched in 2016 and slightly updated about a year ago, the fifth generation of the Audi A4 it was now the target of a deep restyling that brought a new look, a technological boost and even several mild-hybrid versions.
Aesthetically, the main differences appear at the front, which not only received new headlights but also a revised grille, presenting a look that is reminiscent of the small A1 Sportback.
At the rear of the renewed A4, the changes are more subtle, with the redesigned headlamps maintaining a similar look to those previously used.
As for the interior, the A4 now has the latest version of the MMI infotainment system, as standard with a 10.1” screen that can be used via the touch function or voice commands (the rotary command has disappeared). As an option, the A4 can also have a 12.3” digital instrument panel and a head-up display.
Audi S4: Diesel and Electrified
As if to prove a trend that the new S6, S7 Sportback and SQ5 had already confirmed, too the S4 will use a diesel engine combined with a mild-hybrid 48V system.

The engine is the 3.0 TDI V6 with 347 hp and 700 Nm of torque , values that allow the S4 to reach 250 km/h (electronically limited) and to fulfill (in the saloon version) 0 to 100 km/h in 4.8s. All this while consumption is between 6.2 and 6.3 l/100 km (6.3 l/100 km in the Avant version) and emissions between 163 and 164 g/km (between 165 and 166 g/km on the S4 Avant).
As with other mild-hybrid proposals from Audi, the S4 has a 48 V parallel electrical system that allows the use of an electrically operated compressor, powered by an electric motor in order to reduce turbo lag.

Available with an eight-speed automatic transmission and the traditional quattro system, the S4 will feature sports suspension as standard. As an option, a sport differential and adaptive suspension will be available.
Electrify is the watchword
In addition to the S4, the “normal” A4s will also have mild-hybrid versions. of the six engines the German model will initially be offered, three will feature mild-hybrid technology , in this case 12 V and not 48 V like the S4.
The A4 Allroad saw its ground clearance increase by 35 mm.
According to Audi, the A4 and S4 will be available for ordering this month , and the Allroad version can be ordered in early summer, with the arrival at the stands prepared for autumn.
As for prices, the base version, 35 TFSI with the 2.0 l of 150 hp and seven-speed automatic transmission will cost, in Germany, from 35 900 euros , since the prices of the S4 saloon in that market should start at 62 600 euros.
The front was updated, giving the air of the A1 Sportback.
A special launch series will also be available, the Audi A4 edition one. Available in van and sedan format, it can be equipped with three engines (the 245 hp 2.0 TFSI, the 190 hp 2.0 TDI and the 231 hp 3.0 TDI), featuring details of the S Line equipment series on the exterior and interior and with the price starting at 53 300 euros (in Germany).
