Caught up! The first spy photos of the BMW 3 Series update

Unveiled in 2018 at the Paris Motor Show, the BMW 3 Series (G20) is already gearing up for the usual mid-life upgrade, which should hit the market in November… next year.

Razão Automóvel had access (only nationally) to the first spy photos of the Series 3 facelift, which has already been “hunted” in Sweden, the scene of the usual winter development tests.

Typically, the development programs for a new BMW contemplate a testing period with camouflaged prototypes that lasts between six to eight months. As such, and judging by these first spy photos, which show a 3 Series without any exterior alteration, it is expected that the Munich brand is, at this stage, testing only new components, including the new digital instrument panel that will be inherited from its latest electric models.

And it is precisely the interior that we are going to focus on, as these first images unveil a cabin with several modifications. And the fact that the dashboard is fully covered only reinforces the idea that when the 3 Series is updated, it will receive a new digital quadrant and a new screen in the centre, in a solution similar to that found in the recently introduced BMW iX and i4.

A Live Cockpit will be available as standard on all 3 Series versions, to which a second screen (this one tactile) will be added in the center, above the center console, slightly facing the driver.

When will it be presented?

Everything indicates that the refreshed BMW 3 Series will be unveiled to the world during the summer of next year, with production starting during that summer period. The first units should arrive at the German brand's dealers in November 2022.

But while no more information is known about the facelift of the BMW 3 Series — or no more units are picked up in tests! — You can always watch or review the test by “uncle” Guilherme Costa of the most powerful BMW 3 Series today, the M3 Competition (G80). Didn't you notice this provocation? So you really have to see this essay…
