It will be at the next Geneva Motor Show that we will be able to see the revised Mercedes-Benz C-Class, a model entering its fourth year of production, having been the brand's best-selling model in 2017, with combined sales of more than 415 thousand units among the car and van.

If the external revisions are light, with revised bumpers in all versions, redesigned wheels and new internal fillings for the optics, the main innovations are, above all, of the technological aspect.

On the outside, there are new High Performance LED headlamps (option), and for the first time MULTIBEAM LED headlamps with ULTRA RANGE high beams are available. The rear optics are also LED.

Inside, the design changes are even more subtle, with the biggest differences being the materials of some coatings and new chromatic combinations — among them a magma grey/black shade and a new saddle-like brown for the AMG Line.

Digital dashboard is new

But the interior is the main innovation of this update, with the C-Class adopting the S-Class concept of controls and visualization. The Mercedes-Benz C-Class can now have a fully digital instrument panel (12, 3 inches), with three styles to choose from — Classic, Progressive and Sporty.

It is not, however, the MBUX, the new infotainment system unveiled by the Mercedes-Benz A-Class, which combines a new interface with two screens.

The steering wheel now incorporates touch-sensitive controls, like a smartphone, also allowing control of the cruise control and the DISTRONIC system. The infotainment system can additionally be controlled via the touchpad in the center console or via voice commands, courtesy of LINGUATRONIC.

driving assistance

The Mercedes-Benz C-Class also reinforces its skills in driving assistance systems and, in some situations, allows semi-autonomous driving. For this it is equipped with optimized camera and radar systems and can also use map and navigation data for service functions.

The well-known Lane Assistant and Emergency Brake Assistant know new developments and the Steering Assistant incorporates new features.

And more?

Mercedes-Benz didn't reveal much more about the revised model. Expect new developments in the fields of engines — these will need to be updated to meet the latest WLTP and RDE test cycles, which will come into effect in September. Rumors also point to the introduction of new plug-in hybrid versions, under the name EQ, both gasoline and diesel.

The public presentation will take place during the Geneva Motor Show, which opens on March 6th.
