Volkswagen ID.4 GTX. 299 hp and 2 engines for the sportiest of the ID.4

Anonim

THE Volkswagen ID.4 GTX is the first to debut the new designation, which will have an identical positioning to the historic and venerable GTI designation. It will be up to her to identify the sportier versions both in appearance and in performance from the growing family of ID electric models. of the German brand.

Performance is guaranteed by the presence of an additional electric motor on the front axle — asynchronous — which, together with the permanent magnet synchronous rear motor (204 hp or 150 kW), raises the maximum power up to 299 hp (220 kW) and gives all-wheel drive to the electric SUV. The ID.4 GTX is thus able to accelerate to 100 km/h in 6.2s, while the top speed is limited to 180 km/h.

Powering all this is a 486 kg 77 kWh battery, positioned on the platform floor — and ensuring a very low center of gravity, even for an SUV — that gives the ID.4 GTX a WLTP combined cycle range of 480 km.

Volkswagen guarantees that the battery will still have 70% of its original capacity after eight years or 160 thousand kilometers.

With a standard Mode 3 cable, the ID.4 GTX charges 11 kW of alternating current. In a fast charging station, with direct current, as we can find in the new IONITY stations, it is possible to charge at 125 kW, being possible to add 300 km of autonomy in about half an hour.

Selected chassis, as an option

Dynamically no differences are reported for the remaining ID.4, except those available as an option.

The optional Sport package brings the ID.4 GTX 15mm closer to the ground while receiving progressive steering. There will also be a Sport Plus package, which adds Adaptive Suspension (DCC).

As standard, contact with the ground is made via wheels with standard wheels of 20″ or, optionally, 21″, with the tires being wider at the rear (255 mm) than at the front (235 mm).

Braking is handled, at the front, by discs with a diameter of 358 mm, while at the rear, like the other ID.4, it uses drums. A decision justified by the fact that electric cars like the ID.4 have regenerative braking — capable of decelerations of up to 0.3 g — so that hydraulic brakes are less required, with drums proving to be a more economical, lesser solution. wear and tear and maintenance.

more distinguished

In addition to the increased power and performance announced, the ID.4 GTX is also distinguished by new aesthetic details, although visual discretion seems to have been the chosen path.

There are several elements that change to the color of the bodywork, such as the plastic protections on the underside of the doors and there are other elements that lose their metallic tone and gain a black tone, such as the frame directly above the windows that also forms the pillar D. The air intakes (both real and fake) are now finished in glossy black and the GTX emblem is present on the fenders and rear.

But perhaps what most distinguishes the Volkswagen ID.4 GTX from the rest of the ID.4 is the exterior lighting. The GTX now has IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlamps as standard and also gains a unique luminous signature, thanks to the presence of two groups of three additional LEDs, integrated in the niches at the side edges of the front bumper.

At the back, the lighting also gains prominence where the optical groups are now 3D LED, composed of nine independent fiber optic cable elements.

Inside, the differences boil down to a unique color scheme. There is a predominant dark tone called Soul, complemented in the upper part of the dashboard and in the applications similar to leather on the doors with a dark tone of blue (X-Blue), which contrasts with red inserts, with other elements (steering wheel, steering column , instrument panel and door inserts) in glossy black.

Here, too, the GTX designation takes on a prominent place, appearing on the steering wheel, door sills and on the headrests of the front seats. The pedals are stainless steel and repeat the “Play & Pause” motif from the rest of the ID family.
