After having seen many of their “older brothers” electrify themselves, Class A did so too and the result was the Mercedes-Benz A 250 and which stars in another video on our YouTube channel.

Aesthetically, the first A-Class plug-in hybrid is practically identical to the A-Class exclusively equipped with a combustion engine, the similarities extending to the interior, where the differences boil down to little more than a set of specific menus in the infotainment system about the functioning of the plug-in hybrid system.

As for mechanics, the Mercedes-Benz A 250 e combines the 1.33 l four-cylinder engine with a 75 kW or 102 hp electric motor (which also serves as a starter for the combustion engine) offering a combined power of 218 hp (160 kW) and a combined maximum torque of 450 Nm.

Powering the electric motor is a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 15.6 kWh. As for charging, in a 7.4 kW Wallbox with alternating current (AC) the battery takes 1h45min to go from 10% to 100%. With direct current (DC), the battery can be recharged from 10% to 80% in just 25 minutes. The autonomy announced in 100% electric mode is among the 60 and 68 km.
