Cold Start. CUPRA Most powerful Formentor is a… yacht?

Since it was launched in 2018, CUPRA has wanted to prove that it is a long way from being just a car brand. And to show it, the young Spanish brand teamed up with De Antonio Yachts to create its first yacht, inspired by the five-cylinder Formentor VZ5.

Named D28 Formentor, this yacht was named in honor of the first model made from scratch for CUPRA and features a Petrol Blue finish with copper accents, a decoration that is already something of a visual signature of the Spanish brand.

At 7.99 m in length and with a capacity for 10 people, the D28 Formentor is “powered up” by a 400 hp engine — 390 hp in the Formentor VZ5 — and is capable of reaching a top speed of 40 knots, the equivalent of 75 km/h.

For now it is just a prototype, but De Antonio Yachts has already made it known that this will be the basis of a limited edition D28 with CUPRA colors and finishes to be launched later this year.

“This is just the first of many projects. We are both committed to sustainable mobility and are already looking into the creation of an e-HYBRID yacht for the next year,” said Wayne Griffiths, President of CUPRA.
