After having served in 1998 as COO (operations director) of Sauber's Formula 1 team, he who is one of the most influential engineers in the automotive industry of the last 30 years is preparing to return to the “sphere” of Formula 1.

This return will be made through Williams Racing, the team in which Jost Capito will assume the role of CEO from February next year.

The selection of Jost Capito as CEO of Williams Racing is part of a series of changes designed to get the team back on track, with Matthew Savage, president of Williams, saying the new CEO “understands Williams' heritage and will work well with the team in order to return to the top positions”.

About joining Williams Racing, Jost Capito declared: “it is an honor to be part of the future of this historic team (…) so I approach this challenge with great respect and great pleasure”.

The changes at Williams Racing are not just about Jost Capito taking over as CEO. Until now interim team leader, Simon Roberts, will take up the role permanently.

Still, the main change came a few months ago, when the iconic team was no longer under the control of the Williams family and now owned by private investment firm Dorilton Capital.
