Gazoo Racing will return to producing parts for the Toyota Supra A80 and A70

If controversy has followed the new GR Supra (A90), its predecessors seem to have… assured future. At the unveiling of the new Toyota Supra in Japan, the GR Heritage Parts Project was announced by Toyota Gazoo Racing's head Shigeki Tomoyama.

Essentially, this program will aim to return to producing parts for the Toyota Supra A70 and Toyota Supra A80 , which will certainly ease the task of keeping them on the road as they should. These two models are just the beginning, with more models to be covered by this program in the future.

The head of Toyota Gazoo Racing, however, has not specified which components or parts for the Supra A70 and Supra A80 will return to production, with that information to be made available at a later stage.

Shigeki Tomoyama even takes a personal interest in this program, as he owns a 1997 Toyota Supra A80, equipped with a TRD (Toyota Racing Development) aero package and a little more juice than the standard model — 600 hp of power.

Toyota is not the first

Toyota joins Nissan, Mazda and Honda, which also run similar programs in the supply of parts for historic models. Nissan recently announced the expansion of the parts supply program it already had for the Skyline GT-R R32, now also covering the R33 and R34 generations.

Mazda has in its catalog not only parts for the first MX-5, but also a complete repair program for its roadster. Finally, Honda is already a veteran in this type of program, focused on the NSX, with the little roadster Beats (kei car) having been recently added.
