A Toyota GR 86 Shooting Brake? Of course someone would imagine that

Anonim

Just revealed, the Toyota GR 86 it was already “target” of the work of our well-known X-Tomi Design who decided to imagine what a Shooting Brake version of the Japanese model could be like.

The end result is a GR 86 that, at least at first glance, has proportions that bring to mind models like the Volkswagen Scirocco or the Hyundai Veloster (although these were not Shooting Brake).

The front remained unchanged, as were the doors, with the novelties being the horizontal roof (to create the typical Shooting Brake rear) and, of course, the new C-pillar and larger rear windows.

An option to consider?

With some similarities in its rear volume with the much-desired GR Yaris, this Toyota GR 86 Shooting Brake, despite being nothing more than an exercise in style, from the imagination of its author, leaves interesting possibilities open.

Taking into account that in this generation the Toyota coupé continues to present a look identical to that of Subaru's “brother”, the BRZ, the idea of creating a Shooting Brake variant could arise as a way to further differentiate the two models.

Toyota GR Yaris
GR Yaris seems to have lent some elements to the new creation of X-Tom Design.

Of course, “locking in” this possibility arises rational issues that, increasingly, limit the creativity of brands. After all, if even to produce a coupe like the GR 86 Toyota teamed up with Subaru to reduce costs, it would not make much sense (rational) to create an exclusive version with all the costs associated with it.
