Engelberg Tourer PHEV. The hybrid Mitsubishi that even powers the house

The 2019 Geneva Motor Show was the stage chosen by Mitsubishi to reveal its latest prototype, the Engelberg Tourer PHEV , advertised as a glimpse of what will be the next generation of SUV/Crossover of the Japanese brand.

Aesthetically, the Engelberg Tourer PHEV is easily identified as being a Mitsubishi, largely because of the “fault” of the front section, which comes with a reinterpretation of the “Dynamic Shied”, as we have seen in the latest models of the Japanese brand.

With seven seats and dimensions close to the current Outlander PHEV, it would not be surprising that the Engelberg Tourer PHEV (named after a famous ski resort in Switzerland) was already a preview of the successor lines of the current plug-in hybrid SUV from Mitsubishi.

Most evolved plug-in hybrid system

Equipping the Engelberg Tourer Concept we find a plug-in hybrid system with a larger battery capacity (capacity that has not been disclosed) and a 2.4 l gasoline engine specially developed to be associated with the PHEV system and that works as a generator of High power.

According to Mitsubishi, sales of this system should start this year, first in Japan and later in Europe.

The Mitsubishi ASX also went to Geneva

The other new addition to Mitsubishi in Geneva goes by the name… ASX. Well, launched in 2010, the Japanese SUV was subject to yet another aesthetic review (the most profound since its launch) and made itself known to the public at the Swiss show.

In terms of aesthetics, the highlights are the new grille, redesigned bumpers and the adoption of LED front and rear lights and the arrival of new colors. Inside, the highlight is the new 8” touchscreen (replaces the 7”) and the updated operating system.

In mechanical terms, the ASX will be available with a 2.0l petrol engine (whose power has not been revealed) associated with a five-speed manual gearbox or CVT (optional) and with all-wheel or front-wheel drive versions, having not been made. no reference to the 1.6 l diesel engine (remember that Mitsubishi decided to abandon diesel engines in Europe).
