Pope Francis. After a Lamborghini… a Dacia Duster

After a very special Lamborghini, His Holiness Pope Francis returns to the Renault Group models.

As we remembered three years ago, like many Portuguese, the Supreme Pontiff of the Catholic Church also has a soft spot for Renault 4L. A petrolhead Pope? We like that.

Now, the model is different. The Dacia Duster 4X4, a model that for its simplicity and all-terrain capability can even be considered a spiritual successor — spiritual successor, got it? Okay… forget it — the famous Renault 4L.

As expected, the new “Papamóvel” is white with beige interiors. Measuring 4.34 m long and 1.80 m wide, this Duster was transformed by Dacia's Department of Prototypes and Special Needs, in cooperation with transformer Romturingia.

This converted version has five seats, one of the rear seats being particularly comfortable, and includes solutions and accessories specifically designed to adapt it to the specific needs of the Vatican: a large panoramic roof, a detachable glass superstructure, a 30 mm lower ground clearance compared to the normal version (with the aim of facilitating access on board), as well as external and internal support elements.

By offering the “Papamóvel” to the Vatican, the Renault Group makes all its experience as a car manufacturer available to the mobility needs of Pope Francis. “With this gift to His Holiness, the Renault Group renews its strong and continuous commitment to placing Man at the top of its priorities”, declared Xavier Martinet, General Director of the Renault Italy Group.
