At a time when fuel prices do not stop rising week after week, Dacia decided to give a helping hand to all those who want to save when filling up and presented its new range to LPG.
Still viewed with some prejudice (whether because of parking restrictions or the numerous urban myths that exist about it), LPG (or Liquefied Petroleum Gas) is today one of the most affordable ways to drive — every liter of LPG costs , on average, almost a euro less than a liter of gasoline.
Already the market leader among LPG models sold in Portugal (in 2018, 67% of LPG cars sold in Portugal were Dacia), the Romanian brand has returned to the Bi-Fuel technology and now offers five models in Portugal that can consume LPG: Sandero, Logan MCV, Dokker, Lodgy and Duster.
spend early save later
With the (somewhat discriminatory) blue badge left in the past and more than 370 posts across the country, the GPL allows, according to data presented by Dacia, a savings of 50% compared to a gasoline engine and 15% compared to a diesel in terms of running costs.

Despite having a higher acquisition cost than an equivalent gasoline version, according to Dacia, the LPG proposals of the Renault Group brand allow savings of around 900 euros per 20 thousand kilometers.
In addition to economic factors, there are also environmental factors to be highlighted. In addition to containing neither benzene nor sulphur, LPG allows for a reduction in CO2 emissions of close to 13% compared to a gasoline-equivalent model.
If your fear in relation to LPG is related to the safety of the system, know that the LPG tank is made of super-resistant steel six times thicker than a traditional tank, with an exhaust valve for avoid possible explosions in the event of an accident.
Dacia's LPG range
Despite having an extra deposit (LPG), all Dacia Bi-Fuel keep the same capacity as the trunk than the other versions. This was achieved thanks to the installation of the LPG tank in the place where the spare tire would be.
The tank's capacity is around 30 l and it offers an autonomy in LPG mode of around 300 km , and using the two tanks (gasoline and LPG) the autonomy is greater than 1000 km.
Under the bonnet of the Sandero and Logan MCV LPG engines we find the TCe 90 engine with 90 hp and 140 Nm. The Dokker, Lodgy and Duster LPG use the 1.6 SCe engine. In the case of the Dokker and Lodgy it has 107 hp and 150 Nm while in the Duster it offers 115 hp and 156 Nm.
How much?
Like the rest of the Dacia range, the Bi-Fuel models also benefit from a warranty of 3 years or 100,000 kilometers. In addition to this factor, all official Dacia representatives in Portugal are qualified to carry out the maintenance and repair of the LPG systems that equip the Romanian models.
