Anticipated by the Wrangler 392 Concept prototype (interestingly revealed on the same day as the Ford Bronco), the return of the V8 engine to the Jeep Wrangler range is made with the Wrangler Rubicon 392.
It couldn't be more at odds with the latest version of the Wrangler we know, the most ecological and environmentally responsible 4xe , the plug-in hybrid variant of the iconic off-road.
Powered by the most American of engines, an atmospheric V8 with a capacity of 6.4 liters (or 392 cubic inches, hence its name), the Wrangler Rubicon 392 boasts 477 hp and 637 Nm of torque , values that are sent to all four wheels through an automatic eight-speed transmission and allow you to reach 96 km/h (60 mph) in just 4.5s.
Even more focused for off-road
With performance numbers at this level, it's no wonder that the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 continues to have much of its focus on off-road performance whether or not it was a Rubicon.

For starters, compared to the Wrangler Rubicon, this presents itself with an additional 5 cm of ground clearance (now 26.16 cm), 17" wheels with 33" BFGoodrich tires — specific for off-road — and is capable of crossing 82.6 cm deep watercourses thanks to the Hydro-Guide system.
At the end of last year, Jeep introduced the Wrangler Rubicon 392, equipped with a V8 — it looks like it will be short-lived, given the CEO's declarations.
We also have Fox shock absorbers and Dana 44 axles with electronic differential lock. It's also possible to electronically disconnect the front stabilizer bar and the chassis has been reinforced, all to ensure this is the most capable standard all-terrain Wrangler.
Inside, the Wrangler Rubicon 392 has leather seats with bronze stitching (a reference to the notes in this color that appear on the outside) and an infotainment system with an 8.4” screen (which includes specific programs for outside road).
Scheduled for arrival on the American market in early 2021, the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 should cost less than 50 thousand dollars (42 thousand euros) in the USA. As for the possibility of being sold in Europe, this is practically ruled out.
