After the “real cars”, sustainability goals also reached toy carts, with Matchbox presenting ambitious goals for its future.

The goal of the famous toy brand that integrates Mattel is until 2026 to ensure that all of its die-cast carts, game sets and packaging are produced with 100% recycled, recyclable or bio-based plastics.

In addition, Matchbox plans to increase the representation of electric vehicles in its portfolio and add to its famous “fuel stations” electric vehicle chargers.

As for Mattel, the goal is to produce all products and packaging in these same materials by 2030.

Tesla Rodaster sets the example

The first model of this new era of Matchbox is the Tesla Roadster die-cast, the first to be produced with 99% recycled materials.

In its composition, Matchbox used 62.1% recycled zinc, 1% stainless steel and 36.9% recycled plastic.
