After announcing a few months ago that it sold more 911s in the first half of 2020 than in the same period in 2019, Porsche reached yet another sales milestone in August with the Porsche Taycan to assume itself as the best-selling model in its range that month in Europe.
It's true, according to the figures put forward by Car Industry Analysis, the Taycan surpassed the “eternal” 911, the Panamera, the Macan and even the Cayenne in sales, which, in order to surpass it, must add its sales with those of the Cayenne Coupé .
In total, 1183 units of the Taycan were sold in August against 1097 of the 911 and 771 of the Cayenne, with the 100% electric model representing almost 1/4 of Porsche's total sales last month.

Also growing in the segment
These numbers not only make the Porsche Taycan the best-selling Porsche in August in Europe, they also make it the 5th best-selling model in the E-segment (the executive model segment) according to the Car Industry Analysis.

In addition, the 1183 Taycan units sold in August make Porsche's first electric model the 15th best-selling electric model on the European continent last month.
The numbers presented by Taycan in the European market contrast with those of the Panamera, which in August saw its sales drop 71%, accounting for only 278 units sold and assuming itself as the least sold model of the German brand in that period.
Given these numbers, a question may arise in the future: will Taycan “cannibalize” Panamera sales? Only time will bring us this answer, but judging by these results and taking into account the growing trend of electrification in the market, we would not be surprised if this were to happen.
