The news is advanced by the German AutoBild, adding, about the Porsche Panamera Coupe, which should be a sort of spiritual successor to the now-defunct 928. Positioning itself as the Gran Turismo variant of a range that already has a saloon and a van called Sport Turismo.
Also according to the same source, the Porsche Panamera Coupé should have a different name from the other brothers. Will the 928 denomination be recovered? Remember that the coupé was originally intended to replace the 911. It came equipped with a V8 and rear-wheel drive. But nowadays, to be relaunched, it would always be like a luxury GT.
In addition to this aspect, the new model should also share several components with the future Continental GT of Bentley, the British brand's luxury coupé, which uses the same MSB platform as the Panamera. Rumors point to the Porsche Panamera Coupé appearing in 2019.
Cayenne Coupé to rival X6 and GLE Coupé
The other planned “coupé”, based on the Cayenne, will have a different approach, in line with proposals such as the BMW X6 and Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupé. In other words, expect a five-door bodywork anyway, but with a roof that sags more sharply towards the rear.
Naturally, it should inherit from the Cayenne, which we already know about all its engines, from the purely petrol ones — V6 and V8 — to the hybrid and even the… Diesel. Its launch is scheduled for later this year.
Finally, alongside these two coupés, an electric version of the best-selling Macan is also on the way, with the aim of facing models such as the Jaguar I-Pace, the Tesla Model X and the future BMW iX3.
According to AutoBild, the Macan EV will hit the market with three distinct power levels: a base version of 226 hp, another intermediate version of 326 hp and a more powerful version of 435 hp. The latter, rivaling, in terms of power, the Macan Turbo with Performance Package, which advertises 440 hp.
