Volkswagen ID. Buzz. Electric "Bread Bread" caught in Transporter "Dress" tests

Anonim

Perhaps one of the most talked about elements of the "ID family", the Volkswagen ID. buzz is still in development and has now let itself get caught up in tests with some well-known “clothes”.

Is that to test the electrical kinematic chain and other technological solutions that will be part of future ID. Buzz and ID. Buzz Cargo, Volkswagen is resorting to “test mules” with the Volkswagen Transporter bodywork.

If at first glance the most inattentive can be led to believe that they are two Transporters, a more clinical look reveals a shorter and wider bodywork and much shorter front and rear spans than those found on the Transporter.

The proportions (and the wheels) are not deceiving: this is not a Transporter.

What to expect

The different proportions and dimensions are justified by the basis of the future 100% electric “Bread Shape”: MEB, the same that equips models as diverse as the Volkswagen ID.3 or the ID.4.

Expected to arrive in 2022, the Volkswagen ID. Buzz will be accompanied by a “working” version called ID. Buzz Cargo, with the German model expected to become the first van of its kind from 2025 onwards to have fully autonomous driving (Level 4).

Animating the ID. Buzz will be an electric motor with 204 hp (150 kW) that will move the rear wheels and allow a maximum speed of 160 km/h. Powering it will be batteries with a capacity between 48 and 111 kWh that will provide a range of up to 550 km (WLTP cycle).

Following a long tradition in the descendants of the original “Pão de Forma”, also the ID. Buzz will have all-wheel drive as an option. Finally, there is also, it seems, the possibility of ID. Buzz will have solar panels that will allow it to increase its autonomy by up to 15 km.
