BMW M4 Pack M Competition. The missing option?

Anonim

There's something special about the M logo. It's not just the performance, it's something else, something that transcends numbers. The care, attention to detail and passion of those who build the real M make them very special machines…objects of desire.

The BMW M4 never managed to continue the legacy left by the BMW M3. Since the acronym appeared a little over 4 years ago, the criticism has been unanimous: it's not that it's bad, but there are better M proposals. With the competition presenting models that had gained ground in the BMW M4 since its launch, BMW had to start responding to criticism and improving the BMW M4.

The M Competition pack is that answer. More than a set of options, it appears in the middle of the life cycle of this model to try to increase its longevity, an attempt to place it at the top of mind of those looking for a balanced and gratifying proposal in terms of emotions.

What is it?

The M Competition pack includes a set of changes that aim to improve performance and remedy some of the defects pointed out to the BMW M4. A weight diet based on carbon fiber reinforced plastic and a trip to the gym.

At the aesthetic level there are also some changes but they are practically irrelevant when we look at what can really make a difference behind the wheel.

20 inch forged aluminum wheels are included in the M Competition pack.

the potency goes from the original 431 hp to 450 hp. The 550 Nm of torque remains unchanged. This increase in power allows the BMW M4 to complete the sprint from 0-100 km/h in just 4 seconds when equipped with the optional 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox with Drivelogic. With a six-speed manual gearbox, this time is 4.1 seconds.

The active M differential and traction control system have been tuned to handle the increased power. Suspensions were also revised. But there is more, much more.

This pack also adds 20-inch forged aluminum wheels, aluminum bonnet and side panels, and new transmission shafts. The driveshaft, the front stabilizer bar that weighs an impressive 1.5 kg and the roof are made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic. The unit we tested was also equipped with a set of optional carbon and ceramic brakes.

With this Competition pack the M4 also receives ultra-light seats and in the construction of the tailgate, BMW also used carbon fiber to reduce weight and improve aerodynamic characteristics.

A specific sports exhaust is the final item in a vast equipment list. Do you have a soundtrack to match? No doubt.
