Nostalgia sells, even in the car world. From the Mini or the Fiat 500, to machines like the Dodge Challenger, they demonstrate this, and even BMW is no stranger to this phenomenon, if we recall the elegant Z8.

But now a company, the German Everytimer, has taken this nostalgic vein further, re-dressing the BMW 1 Series Convertible (E88) to resemble the 1971 BMW Convertible.

the denominated ETA 02 Convertible It started life as a BMW 135i Convertible, but we would hardly identify it as such, given the depth of changes we can observe. The result is remarkable.

The visual elements that characterize the 2002 Convertible are easily identified on the ETA 02 Convertible, such as the circular optics at the front (bi-xenon) and rear (LED) and the much more discreet double rim integrated into the horizontally developed front grille.

Note also the horizontal waistline, surrounding the entire bodywork, just like in 2002, dispensing only with the chrome frieze. The A-pillar and windshield come directly from the 135i, but on the ETA 02 Convertible, they feature a steeper angle. From the 135i also remains the cover for the hood.

As you would expect, there is plenty of room for customization, with Everytimer offering three versions — Exclusive, Premium and Individual, with the latter meeting the personal preferences of potential customers.

Mechanically inherits from the 135i the turbo inline six cylinders with 306 hp, capable of taking the convertible to 250 km/h and accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just five seconds.

For now, there are only two prototypes (in the images), with fiberglass bodywork, with the next ones replacing it with carbon fiber. Given the extent of the work, no wonder the cost of 70 thousand euros to convert the 135i Convertible into the ETA 02 Convertible.
