Hyundai i30 Fastback N. Albert Biermann, third act.

Anonim

It's been 18 months since Hyundai launched the first N-line model. Born in Namyamg and bred in the Nürburging, Hyundai's N-division 2 models (Hyundai i30 Hatchback N and Veloster N) have received very positive reviews.

Here at Razão Automóvel, we are also surrendered to the models of the N division of Hyundai. If you haven't seen it yet, you must see the video of Guilherme Costa at the wheel of the Hyundai i30 N hatchback.

As such, when Hyundai invited us to test the new Hyundai i30 N Fastback, the third model in the N range, on road and circuit, we couldn't have refused.

What is it?

The Hyundai i30 N Fastback is Hyundai's first 5-door coupe and a unique proposal in the C-segment. This new model is tasked with expanding the horizons of Hyundai's sports division, which after the success of the Hyundai i30 N of five doors will not be difficult (Hyundai has already received 2000 orders for this new model).

The Hyundai i30 N Fastback is 120mm longer and 21mm shorter than the hatchback. The drag coefficient is 0.297 Cd, while in the hatchback this value is 0.320 Cd.

The rear has a double exhaust pipe, spoiler and specific bumpers. The fog light is central and triangular, a detail that does not go unnoticed.

The Hyundai i30 N was developed with a single goal: to provide maximum driving pleasure to our customers through an affordable high-performance model.

The numbers

Under the hood the Hyundai i30 N Fastback has a 2.0 liter turbo engine with 4 cylinders, which can have 250 or 275 horsepower. In both versions we have 353 Nm of torque, and with the overboost function we can, for a few seconds, have up to 378 Nm.

Did you know that?

The letter N of this range from Hyundai has three meanings. It represents, firstly, Hyundai's global research and development center in the Namyang district of South Korea. Secondly, it is also alluding to the Nürburgring, where the N-division test center is based. “N” symbolizes a chicane.

The sprint from 0-100 km/h is done in 6.1 seconds and the top speed is 250 km/h, this for the most powerful version of the range equipped with the performance pack.

Despite being only available with a 6-speed manual gearbox, the Hyundai i30 N Fastback manages to simulate a launch control, a system that Hyundai calls the “Assisted Start System”. How it works? With the electronic stability control turned off and the clutch disengaged, first gear can be engaged by releasing the clutch pedal within 5 seconds after accelerating at full throttle.

The trunk has a capacity of 450 liters, 55 liters more than the hatchback. It's a plus for those looking for a better space compromise.

Developed in Inferno Verde

Each model tested at the Nürburgring by Hyundai N undergoes an extensive period of durability testing. The cars tested make between 420 and 480 laps of the Nürburgring GP Circuit in just 4 weeks, regardless of weather conditions. The kilometers covered can go up to 180 thousand, in very harsh conditions, the equivalent of the average life cycle of a vehicle.

home made steel

Hyundai produces its own steel and the Hyundai i30 N Fastback is 51% high strength steel produced by Hyundai.

As in the hatchback, the infotainment system has a specific N menu, where telemetry, stopwatch information is available and where we can individually parameterize the car and create a driving mode adapted to our personal taste.

Hyundai Smartsense

In addition to performance, security has not been forgotten. The Hyundai i30 N Fastback is equipped with the latest security technologies from the i30 range. As such, we have systems like Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Maintenance System and Driver Fatigue Alert.

Made in Europe

The Hyundai i30 N Fastback will be produced at the South Korean brand's factory in Nošovice, Czech Republic. This factory was inaugurated in 2008 and has the capacity to produce 350,000 cars a year, it is equipped with a 3.3 km test track where all the vehicles produced are tested.

The Hyundai i30 N Fastback arrives in Portugal in March 2019, with a price of 42,000 euros for access to the range and 45,500 euros for the version with 275 hp and performance pack.
