Mii electric sends the combustion engine Mii to the rebuild

Updated at 5:21 pm — added data that indicates the end of production of the combustion engine Mii.

After getting to know e-Up! and the Citigoe iV, it was SEAT's turn to reveal the Mii electric, the electrified version of the Spanish city dweller and the missing electrifying element of the Volkswagen Group's triplets.

The first electric model in SEAT's history destined to be mass produced (there was, for example, an electric Toledo for the Olympic Games in Barcelona), the Mii electric is, at the same time, the “kick-off” of the Spanish brand's electric offensive which intends to have in its range, by 2021, six new plug-in electrics and hybrids.

Equipped with a electric motor of 83 hp (61 kW) and 212 Nm of torque , the Mii electric reaches 0 to 50 km/h in “only” 3.9s and reaches 130 km/h. Powering the engine is a battery pack with a capacity of 36.8 kWh that offers the Mii electric an autonomy of up to 260 km (already according to the WLTP cycle).

If it weren't for the lettering to denounce which version it is, it would be practically impossible to distinguish the Mii electric from its combustion engine brothers.

The (few) differences of the Mii electric

Compared to “conventional” Mii, little has changed in the new Mii electric. On the outside everything remains the same (not even the grille has changed as it happened on the Citigoe iV) with the few differences consisting in the lettering alluding to the electrification of the model and the fact that it is limited to using only 16” wheels.

The interior of the Mii electric has been redesigned.

Inside, the changes are limited to a redesigned dashboard, new sports seats (which are even heated), sports leather steering wheel and even the SEAT Connect system. According to SEAT, the Mii electric can be charged up to 80% in four hours on a 7.2kW Wallbox or in just one hour on a 40kW quick charger.

Hello Mii electric, goodbye Mii with combustion engine

At the same time that SEAT presented the new Mii electric, the Spanish brand revealed that from July this year, the Mii with an internal combustion engine will no longer be produced, with the city dweller assuming itself as an exclusively electric model, something that, according to SEAT “completes a driving experience (…) more suited to the city environment”.

The trunk still holds 251 l of capacity.

With the start of production scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2019 in Bratislava (Slovakia), the Mii electric is expected to reach the market by the end of the year. Although the prices of the Mii electric are not yet known, SEAT has already announced that pre-sales will start in September.
