As in 2019, in 2022 the small Citroën C1 of the C1 Learn & Drive Trophy will face a test of 24 hours. The confirmation was made by the organizer of the trophy, Motor Sponsor, which announced the holding of the race at the Portimão Circuit on the 23rd and 24th of July 2022.

To present and promote the race — the first to be announced on the competition calendar for 2022 — Motor Sponsor heads to the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, which will be held next weekend, between the 22nd and 24th of October.

About this announcement, the head of Motor Sponsor, André Marques, said: “We are very pleased to announce the date of the 24 Hours of Portimão (…) It is an event that raises the C1 Learn & Drive Trophy to a new level and that you know a great interest and impact, nationally and internationally”.

The Autodromo Internacional de Portimão was the chosen stage for another 24-hour race with the C1.

Presentation in style

Motor Sponsor officials decided to take part in one of the most iconic races in which the small Citroën C1 trophy cars race: the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, a race that is part of the C1 Racing Cup calendar and has more than 100 teams.

About this participation, André Marques highlighted: “Being in a competition of the dimension and charisma of the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, which brings together the best drivers and teams of the C1 Trophies at European level, constitutes a very important bet for the promotion and dissemination of the Trophy C1 Learn & Drive”.

Still on this race, the head of Motor Sponsor recalled: “This participation also follows an invitation from the owner of Oeste Kart, who was at the 12 Horas do Algarve, in August”.

C1 Trophy
In 2022 the small Citroën C1 will be racing again at night.

It is precisely in the Oeste Kart team that the responsible of Motor Sponsor, André Marques and Ricardo Leitão, Event Manager of the Portuguese organizer, will race, joining them two unannounced Belgian drivers.

The two Portuguese will drive a Citroën C1 with C1 Racing Cup specifications. As for the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, these will start at 4 pm on Saturday, the 23rd, and will be broadcast live on Facebook with the C1 Learn & Trophy Drive.
