In a year in which the late Porsche 953 returned to the Dakar Rally in the Dakar Classic category, famous coach Singer went to work and created a modern interpretation of the 911 Safari that served as the basis for the 953.
Clearly inspired by the successful Porsche 953 and 959 that won the Dakar in the 1980s, this ACS (All-Terrain Competition Study) as Singer calls it is anything but discreet.
To start with, we have high ground clearance, 16” wheels with BF Goodrich tires designed for all terrain and eye-catching side shields with the name “Porsche” inscribed (in reference to the decals used by competition cars).
The rear with the integrated spoiler is a clear reference to the 959 that ran on the Dakar and to reduce the amount of earth, mud or water projected onto the bodywork, Singer ACS adopts an interesting solution that consists of extending the mudguards, thus forming a a kind of “pala” like those used by competition cars.
Bare interior and a powerful engine
As for the interior, the focus on weight reduction and the fact that this Singer ACS is practically a competition vehicle have resulted in the exchange of luxuries for a look that is much more focused on efficiency.

Thus, in addition to the competition seats, we have an eye-catching roll cage, a three-spoke steering wheel filled with buttons that control the most diverse functions and, in front of the passenger, a huge screen that allows the copilot to be occupied with the tasks of navigation.
As for the mechanics, this consists of a flat-six twin-turbo with 3.6 l capacity, air-cooled, which delivers 457 hp of power that are sent to the four wheels through a sequential five-speed gearbox.
Custom-made at a customer's request, the Singer ACS is not a one-off. For starters, the same customer who ordered this copy ordered another one, but optimized for asphalt. In addition, this mystery shopper gave permission to the famous North American preparer to produce copies identical to his case if interested.
