We tested the Nissan Skyline GT-R (R34) on video. the real Godzilla

Anonim

JDM culture has many heroes like the Toyota Supra, Mazda RX-7 or Honda NSX. To this group of notable “samurai” joins the protagonist of our latest video, the Nissan Skyline GT-R (R34), arguably one of the rarest (and most desired) of them all.

Dubbed by many as “Godzilla”, the Skyline GT-R (R34) was the last of a lineage of Skyline GT-R that was born in the distant year of 1969 (50 years ago!) and that only in 2002 would see the Skyline names and GT-R go their separate ways.

Protagonist both in the cinema (who hasn't seen it in the Fast & Furious saga?) and in the PlayStation (missing Gran Turismo), even today the Skyline GT-R (R34) impresses, either for its aesthetics, or for the… engine it has under the bonnet and which transmits power to all four wheels.

The detail of the four taillights remained even after the GT-R was no longer Skyline.

After all, who doesn't know the mythical RB26DETT, one of the best Japanese engines in history? With 2.6 l, in-line six cylinders, two turbos, iron block and aluminum head, it is still one of the favorite engines of Japanese tuners (and beyond).

Why? Simple. Is that despite officially "only" having 280 hp (in reality the power was between 310 and 320 hp), you could easily extract exorbitant powers from this engine (who doesn't remember to do it on PlayStation?), and all this without pinching bulletproof reliability.

The Skyline GT-R (R34) we tested

The Skyline GT-R (R34) that Diogo and Guilherme were able to test is from a Razão Automóvel reader. Originally sold in Japan (obviously), this specimen is an authentic Globetrotter having passed through the UK before arriving in our country.

Practically original (one of the few changes is the exhaust, coming from an R33), this Skyline GT-R (R34) is a daily driver (proven by its 180 thousand kilometers). Despite that, and as you can see in the video, the years and kilometers were kind to him, attesting to the resistance of these models.

After the introductions, all that remains is for us to advise you to watch our video to find out what it is like to be at the controls of the true “Godzilla”.
