Opel Combo returns to production in Portugal

Between 1989 and 2006 the name Opel Combo was synonymous with national production. For three generations (the Combo is now in its fifth generation in total) the German van was produced at the Azambuja factory until Opel closed the Portuguese factory, moving production to the Zaragoza factory where it was (and still is) produced. model from which Combo derived, the Opel Corsa.

Now, about 13 years after it stopped being produced in Azambuja, Opel Combo will be produced again in Portugal, but this time in Mangualde . This will happen because, as you know, Opel has joined the PSA Group and Combo is the “twin” of two models that are already produced there: the Citroën Berlingo and the Peugeot Partner/Rifter.

This is the first time that Opel models will be produced at the Mangualde plant (or any model other than Peugeot or Citroën). From that factory both commercial and passenger versions of Combo will come out, and the production of the German model will be shared with the Vigo factory, which has been producing Combo since July 2018.
