New Volkswagen Polo 1.0 TSI (2022). everything that changed

Anonim

The Volkswagen Polo, now in its sixth generation, was renewed with technology that is uncommon in this segment and adopted an image closer to that of the Golf.

We had already had a first contact with him in the national presentation of the model, but now we were able to “live with” him for almost a week and put him to the test in another video on our YouTube channel.

And we tested it right away in the most powerful version available, at least until the arrival of the Polo GTI. It is the 1.0 TSI variant with 110 hp and 200 Nm and equipped with a seven-speed DSG gearbox. But how did he "behave" on the road? The answer is in the video below:

renewed image

In this renovation, the Polo went through many changes, starting with the image, which came even closer to that of its older “brother”, the Volkswagen Golf.

Highlights include the LED headlamps, which are standard across the Polo range, and the redesigned bumpers. And this is even more evident in the version we tested, the R-Line, which adopts a markedly sportier image.

Smart Matrix LED lights with dynamic turn lights are also available as an option, a very unusual solution in this segment.

More technology and connectivity

Also in the interior, the Polo underwent an important evolution, especially at the technological level. The 8” digital cockpit is available as standard on all versions, although there is an optional 10.25” digital instrument panel. Also the multifunction steering wheel is completely new and very similar to the Golf.

And the engines?

The range of engines did not change either, with the exception of Diesel proposals, which disappeared from the “menu”. In the launch phase the Polo is only available with 1.0 liter three-cylinder petrol versions:

  • MPI, without turbo and 80 hp, with five-speed manual transmission;
  • TSI, with turbo and 95 hp, with a five-speed manual transmission or, optionally, a seven-speed DSG (double clutch) automatic;
  • TSI with 110 hp and 200 Nm, with DSG transmission only;
  • TGI, powered by natural gas with 90 hp (six-speed manual gearbox).

At the end of the year, the Polo GTI arrives, animated by a 2.0 liter four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 207 hp.
