Audi RS6 Avant wins a "brother" RS7 Sportback in Frankfurt

Anonim

We recently got to know the new RS6 Avant, but it wasn't accompanied by an RS6 sedan in Frankfurt. In its place, the new Audi RS7 Sportback who, as you can imagine, shares all the mechanical and dynamic arguments with the “sister”.

This means that under the aggressive garments we find the same 4.0 V8 twin-turbo with 600 hp and 800 Nm (available between 2050 rpm and 4500 rpm), aided by a 48 V semi-hybrid system and coupled to an eight-speed automatic transmission (with launch control) and quattro traction.

It shares with its “sister” the 40/60 power distribution to the front and rear axles — if we choose one of the two Dynamic packages, it gets a sporty center differential, capable of sending up to 70% of the power to the front or 85% to behind.

The result is to catapult the RS7 Sportback up to 100 km/h in just 3.6s — the same as the RS6 Avant — and capable of reaching 250 km/h as standard, or 280 km/h or 305 km/h of speed maximum, depending on the choice or not of Dynamic and Dynamic Plus packages.

Like the RS6 Avant, the new Audi RS7 Sportback also saw its bodywork undergo extensive changes — only shared with the “common” A7 Sportback, the bonnet, roof, front doors and tailgate — keeps the spoiler active, which raises if from 100 km/h. It is visibly wider, with the measuring tape showing more than 40 mm compared to the A7, and also longer, reaching 5.0 m in length.

As for the suspension, it is adaptive to air as standard, has three modes and is self-levelling: in normal position, the RS7 Sportback has a ground clearance 20 mm lower than the other A7, above 120 km/h , reduces ground clearance by 10 mm and also offers a high mode capable of increasing ground clearance by 20 mm.

With 21″ as standard, the wheels are massive and can even grow, as an option, up to 22″. The brake discs, also massive, can be in steel (420 mm in diameter at the front and 370 mm at the back), or in carbon-ceramic (440 mm at the front and 370 mm at the rear), which, despite being larger, remove 34 kg in unsprung masses.

Like the RS6 Avant, the new Audi RS7 Sportback is expected to hit the market in the first quarter of 2020.
