Tribute to its founder. Abt gives 800 hp to Audi RS 6 Avant

Anonim

Johann Abt Signature Edition is the name given to this Audi RS 6 Avant prepared by Abt Sportsline, in honor of its founder.

Only 64 units will be made — and for those interested, we regret, but all of them already have an owner — and, faithful to Abt's modus operandi, they not only offer more performance, but also a more exclusive image.

Starting with what makes this RS 6 Avant move, the 4.0 V8 biturbo received a series of improvements and modifications. It has a new pair of turbos and intercoolers (larger), developed by Abt itself, and received a new engine control unit (AEC or ABT Engine Control).

The power “shot” from the 600 hp of the RS 6 Avant in production to 800 hp, while the torque jumped from 800 Nm to 980 Nm (it peaks at 1000 Nm). To keep all this added “firepower” under control, even at very high speeds, Abt's competition mechanics have added an additional oil cooler.

Undoubtedly, the Audi RS 6 Avant Johann Abt Signature Edition is significantly faster than the production model: the 100 km/h is now reached in 2.91s (3.6s series), the 200 km/h in 9.69s and 300 km/h in 28.35s, reaching a top speed of 330 km/h (305 km/h optional as standard).

Everything under control

It wasn't just about adding power and torque, Abt's new proposal has been extensively tested, both in the wind tunnel and the high-speed oval in Papenburg, Germany.

The chassis received new stabilizer bars, height-adjustable springs, further aided by various assistance systems, and the new 22″ wheels (285/30 R22 tires) are forged, saving 3.5 kg per wheel compared to the production model .

unique appearance

The Audi RS 6 Avant has a dominating look, but Abt Sportsline has boosted it even more: there are larger air intakes at the front, a new front spoiler, new side skirts as well as a new rear bumper.

Highlight also for the insertions in these elements and others, such as the mirrors, in carbon fiber with a dark red tone, for an exclusive appearance. The same type of finish that can be found in the also customized interior.

There is no lack of leather and Alcantara coverings in the cabin, as well as unique details such as the door sills with the inscription “Since 1896” (the year of Abt's foundation), or the founder's signature embroidered on the seats.

The most special detail of the Audi RS 6 Avant Johann Abt Signature Edition is a kind of mini-time capsule that we can see in the center console. In it resides a small fragment of metal from Johann Abt's first anvil.

In 1896, my great-grandfather Johann Abt opened his own forge in Bavaria. His clear objective was the optimal transfer of power from the horse to the road. This has remained true throughout our company's 125-year history. Meanwhile, the blacksmith's workshop has become a state-of-the-art tuning facility. But the founder's pioneering spirit remains — more than ever.
