There are now more than 6000 superchargers that Tesla has installed throughout Europe, spread across 27 countries and 600 different locations, eight of which in Portugal, a number that will soon grow to 13.

Confirmation was made this Thursday by Tesla herself, who needed just eight years to create a European network with 6039 superchargers. It all started with a unit installed in 2013 in Norway, which accompanied the arrival of the Model S in that northern European country.

Three years later, in 2016, the fast charger network of the company founded by Elon Musk already consisted of 1267 stations, a number that rose to 3711 in 2019. And in the last two years alone, more than 2000 new superchargers were installed.

The last supercharger to be installed was in Athens, Greece, but the biggest station is located in Norway and has an impressive 44 superchargers.

In our country, Tesla's biggest charging stations are in Fátima, at the Floresta restaurant and hotel, and in Mealhada, at the Portagem hotel. The first space has 14 units and the second has 12.

Even so, the only model V3 superchargers — capable of charging up to 250 kW — in Portugal are installed in the Algarve, specifically in Loulé. Diogo Teixeira and Guilherme Costa took a road trip to the Algarve to try them out, aboard a Tesla Model 3 Long Range.

It should be remembered that a second gas station with this technology is already under construction in Porto, which should be completed during the second quarter of the year.

According to Tesla, “Since the arrival of the Model 3, Tesla car owners have traveled the equivalent of more than 3,000 round-trips to the Moon and about 22 round-trips to Mars using the European network alone. of superchargers”. These are remarkable numbers.
