Magnite Concept. Datsun was born, but it will be another Nissan B-SUV to India

It seems that Kicks is not enough for Nissan in the Indian market, taking into account the unveiling of the Nissan Magnite Concept which, as you can see, seems to be much closer to a production model than to a true concept.

And this proximity is confirmed with the revelation that the production model will take place at the end of this year, being another proposal to add to the competitive B-SUV segment in the Indian market.

The curious thing about the Magnite Concept is that, originally, it was designed to be a Datsun, but the disappearance of the low-cost brand led to it gaining a new identity.

A mix of two brands

On the outside, the Nissan Magnite Concept doesn't hide the brand change it was subjected to in the middle of its development.

Thus, while the rear and its profile are typically Nissan (reminiscent a lot of Kicks), the same does not happen with the front. That's why we find the octagonal grille and “L” daytime running lights, elements that don't hide the Datsun origins of this prototype.

As for the interior, for now, we don't have pictures, but Nissan not only claims that the room rates may be benchmarks, but also revealed that there we'll find an 8” touchscreen.

Technology will not be lacking

In the technological field, Nissan claims that, in addition to connectivity technology, the production version of the Magnite Concept will have 360º cameras, cruise control and “luxuries” such as automatic air conditioning or multifunction steering wheel.

Finally, with regard to mechanics, Autocar India claims that the production version of the Nissan Magnite Concept will have two petrol engines.

The offer should start with a 1.0 l three-cylinder with 72 hp, already used by the Renault Triber, which will be associated with a manual or robotized manual gearbox with five relations.

Above this should appear a 1.0 l, also with three cylinders, but associated with a turbo. With 95 hp, this engine will be coupled to a five-speed manual gearbox or a CVT gearbox.

For now, Nissan has not revealed any plans to sell this small SUV in any market other than India. Most likely, if you decide to do so, it will only be available in emerging markets.
