RS e-tron GT. Audi anticipates its first 100% electric RS

We knew it as a concept in 2018 and since then we've been treated to several teasers for the new e-tron GT, Audi's new electric sports saloon, whose production starts at the end of the year in Neckarsulm. Now Audi is making known, in part, what will be the sportiest version of the range: the RS e-tron GT.

It will be a historic moment in the RS saga at Audi Sport when it is unveiled, as it will be the first RS model to be 100% electric.

From what is possible to see from the published images of the camouflaged prototype — taken at the circuit of Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium, together with the Audi R8 LMS (GT3) — there seem to be no visual differences to those of the “regular” e-tron GT. The differences, these, should be in the performance of the RS e-tron GT.

There is still no concrete data, but it is estimated that the RS e-tron GT presents itself with at least 700 hp, making it the most powerful production RS ever. Compared to the “cousin” Porsche Taycan, with which it shares the J1 platform, it seems to be slightly below this one. In the Turbo S version, the Taycan has a peak power of 761 hp.

“The Audi R8 and RS e-tron GT prototype, with their expressive design, represent the sportiness of the present and the future, both on the road and in competition. The fascinating Audi RS e-tron GT prototype is the ideal basis for a promising concept for electrified GT racing, like the GTX World Tour, announced by the Stéphane Ratel Organization."

Will we see the unprecedented RS e-tron GT on the circuits as well? After these statements, it seems so.
