Renault 4ever. The return of the legendary 4L will be like an electric crossover

Anonim

After revealing its eWays plan last week, where we learned that by 2025 the Renault Group will launch 10 new 100% electric models, the French brand anticipated with some images one of the most anticipated, the Renault 4ever.

The model name says it all. It will be the contemporary reinterpretation of the Renault 4, or as it is better known, the eternal 4L, one of the most iconic Renaults ever.

The more accessible side of Renault's electric offensive will thus be supported by the return of two of its most striking models. First with a new Renault 5, already unveiled as a prototype and scheduled to arrive in 2023, and with a new 4L, which should receive the designation 4ever (pun intended with the English word “forever”, in other words, “forever” ) and should arrive in 2025.

the teasers

Renault anticipated the new model with a pair of images: one showing the “face” of the new proposal and the other showing its profile, where it is possible to detect in both traits that evoke the original 4L.

Bearing in mind that the expected launch date is still four years away, these teasers are more likely to anticipate the prototype that should be known this year to celebrate the celebrations of the 60th anniversary of the Renault 4. In the image of what we saw with the Renault 5 Prototype.

The highlighted image shows the face of the 4ever, which, as in the original, combines the headlights, “grill” (being electric, it should only be a closed panel) and brand symbol, in a single rectangular element with rounded ends. The headlamps themselves take on the same circular contours, albeit truncated at the top and bottom, with two small horizontal light elements completing the luminous signature.

The profile image, in what little it reveals, makes it possible to guess the typical proportions of a hatchback with five doors and a roof that is somewhat curved (as in the original) and visibly separated from the rest of the 4ever's body.

There are clear differences between these new images and the ones we saw a few months ago in the patent file. Both in the "face" of the model, as in the profile, especially in the relationship between the roof and the rear spoiler, in addition to clearly seeing an exterior mirror.

In addition to the already unveiled Renault 5 Prototype and the promised 4ever, Renault also showed the profile of a third model based on the CMF-B EV, a small electric commercial vehicle, which appears to be a reinterpretation of the Renault 4F.

What to expect?

We know that both the future Renault 5 and this 4ever will be based on the CMF-B EV platform, exclusively for electric models, being the most compact of Renault. The Renault 5 will have the mission to take the place of the current Zoe and Twingo Electric, so the 4ever is a new addition to this segment, taking advantage of the market's “appetite” for crossover and SUV models.

Characteristics about the future powertrain have not yet been released, and it is necessary to wait for the final revelation of the new Renault 5, which should inform more concretely what to expect from the future Renault 4ever.

What little we know is that models derived from the CMF-B EV will have autonomy of up to 400 km and more affordable prices than those we have today for the Zoe, thanks to the new platform and batteries (improved technology and local production). The French brand expects to reduce costs by 33%, which means a price for the most affordable of the Renault 5s at around 20 thousand euros, which could translate into a price below 25 thousand euros for the future Renault 4ever.
