SSC Tuatara. Another candidate for the world's fastest car

Anonim

It took about seven years to develop, but it is finally ready. The SSC Tuatara is here and has just been officially unveiled, with the stated ambition to compete with Bugatti Chiron, Koenigsegg Agera and Hennessey Venom F5, the title of fastest car in the world.

A complicated mission, but not an impossible one. Justifying such ambitions is a V8 5.9 l gasoline engine, equipped with two turbochargers, announcing a maximum power of 1350 hp with regular gasoline or, if you choose an E85 (Bioethanol) mixture, 1770 hp.

Power needed to, in this way, surpass the 480 km/h of maximum speed, which, if that happens, will allow the American hypersports to be even faster than the Koenigsegg Agera RS, current holder of the fastest car in the world with 447 km/h of maximum speed.

Accompanying this monstrous V8 block, we find a seven-speed robotic manual transmission, whose mission is to direct power only and only to the rear wheels.

Lightness (also) is an argument

Because speed is not just about power, the SSC Tuatara uses light materials, such as carbon fiber, applied to the chassis, body panels and even wheels. Choices that allow SSC Tuatara to advertise an empty weight of just 1247 kg; of which, 196 kg relate only to the propeller.

The American super sports car also pays special attention to aerodynamics, with the assumed objective of ensuring a better coefficient of aerodynamics than its rivals. Something quite explicit, in fact, in the CX of 0.279 announced by Tuatara, against 0.33 by Koenigsegg Agera and Hennessey Venom F5, not to mention the 0.36 by Bugatti Chiron.

It's only 100

As also informed by SSC North America, a manufacturer born from the extinct Shelby SuperCars Inc. and now responsible for the production of the Tuatara, the period for receiving orders for the new hypersport is already underway. The builder guarantees that he is ready to start production immediately at his new facilities in West Richland, Washington state.

If you are considering purchasing one of these machines, the price of which is not yet known (it is said to be just over €545,000), be warned: hurry up, as SSC North America has already announced that no more than 100 units will be produced.
