After, about a year ago, having already achieved the record in the quarter mile — 8.67s and 281 km/h — the Volkswagen Golf Mk2 Boba Motoring, returned to the drag strip, even to test the most recent evolutions received — a reconfigured DSG transmission and a new turbo.
Boba Motoring advertises more than 1200 hp — in a Golf that weighs less than 1200 kg in weight (!) —, taken from a “modest” 2.0 l 16V Turbo, and after a few attempts, one of them with quasi-acrobatic contours, managed to complete the quarter mile in 8.47s, with a final speed of 269 km/h ! Impressive, and even more so with the acceleration values recorded: 1.8s to reach 100 km/h; 2.8s for 100-200 km/h; and just 2.1s to go from 200 to 250 km/h!
