Land Rover declares war on aftermarket tuning

From now on, the Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) division will offer a wider range of modifications, starting with the new Discovery.

Since 2014, Land Rover SVO has been the division responsible for modifications to the British brand's models, but even so, this does not prevent its customers from continuing to look for after-market solutions. Therefore, Gerry McGovern, responsible for Land Rover's design department, intends to inaugurate a customization program with exclusive and “unlimited” options:

“One of the reasons we created the SVO division is because we feel that preparers are taking 99% of our intellectual and creative property and changing only small things – usually not very well – by removing warranties and charging premium values for that".

Everything indicates that the new generation of the Land Rover Discovery will be the first model to offer a complete range of accessories designed from the ground up and a wide range of customization options. All this will take place in Coventry at the new premises of Special Vehicle Operations, the result of an investment of 20 million pounds (approximately 23.4 million euros).
