The little samurai arrives in Europe. This is the new Suzuki Jimny

Anonim

Owner of a clearly square style, the Suzuki Jimny was presented to the public today at the Paris Salon. Equipped with a frame with stringers and an all-wheel drive system that has reducers, the small Japanese jeep promises to delight the most radical customers.

Despite the robust and utilitarian look, the new Jimny already offers some modern touches in its interior, such as the color touchscreen with the same infotainment system already known by the “brothers” of the Ignis and Swift range.

Compared to its predecessor, which was on the market for about 20 years, Suzuki claims that the new Jimny inherits its off-road capabilities but brings improvements in terms of structural rigidity and on-road "modes", with the brand promising less vibration and more refinement when driving on asphalt. In terms of suspensions, the small jeep bets on rigid axles, front and rear, with three support points.

Suzuki Jimny new, new engine

Bringing the Suzuki Jimny to life is a new 1.5 l petrol engine with 102 hp. Associated with the new engine are two transmission options, five-speed manual or four-speed automatic (yes, you read four speeds well) with the brand promising better consumption and emissions. Common to both will be the three four-wheel drive modes: 2H (2WD high), 4H (4WD high) and 4L (4WD low).

For the more adventurous, the new Suzuki Jimny seems to have, from the outset, all the necessary ingredients to untangle itself well in any terrain, featuring a short wheelbase, and excellent angles for off-road practice: 37º, 28º and 49º, respectively, attack, ventral and exit; in addition to forgoing “luxuries” such as low-profile tires and oversized wheels.
