The 42 candidates to the 2019 International Car of the Year (Europe) award. THE winner shall be known on March 4th of next year on Geneva Motor Show.
In the last two editions, the award was given to SUV or Crossover models, in 2018 the winner was the Volvo XC40 is on 2017 the award went to France, with the Peugeot 3008 to win the award. To find a more "conventional" model to be voted car of the year in Europe we have to go back to 2016 , year in which the Opel Astra was the chosen one.
For a model to be eligible for the International Car of the Year award, it has to meet certain requirements: be launched during the year (in this case, during 2018) or be scheduled for launch by the end of the year and must be on sale in, at at least five European markets.
