The new Toyota Yaris Cross began production this Tuesday and can now be booked online, by paying a deposit of 100 euros.
Scheduled for launch in our country in September, Toyota's new B-SUV can be seen as a more adventurous derivation of the Toyota Yaris, model with which it shares the GA-B platform.
“Designed and developed to respond to the needs of European customers in the B-segment SUV market”, the Yaris Cross is the eighth model based on the TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) to be produced in Europe.
The Yaris Cross will be made at Toyota's production facility in Valenciennes, France, on the same assembly line as the new Toyota Yaris. This coexistence was only possible thanks to an investment of 400 million euros in the transformation and adaptation of the production line.
Marvin Cooke, Executive Vice President of Toyota Motor EuropeThe introduction of the Yaris Cross is important as it not only increases Toyota's competitiveness, but also reinforces our European production strategy and maximizes production capacity towards Toyota's goal of increasing European sales to 1.5 million units by 2025.
arrives in september
When it hits the Portuguese market, in September, the Yaris Cross will only be available associated with the 116 hp 1.5 Hybrid engine that we already know from Yaris. However, you will be able to count on an all-wheel drive system (optional), something very unusual in the B-SUV segment.
Whenever the ESP sensors detect poor grip conditions, the AWD-i system kicks in to help small SUVs cope with rain, dirt or sand.
As for prices for our country, they should only be disclosed closer to the launch date on the national market.
