Driving the new SEAT Leon… without leaving your home

Of course it's not the same as being “live and in color” inside a new car, but given the circumstances of our day, SEAT gives us the opportunity to sit at the controls of the new Leon , without leaving home. Like? Thanks to a short 360º video.

A video that allows us to explore the interior of the new Leon from the driver's point of view, where it is possible to appreciate the new design and see some of the characteristics that mark it.

Watch and interact with the video — you can “look” anywhere or using your finger on your mobile phone, or your mouse (click and drag) if you're on a computer:

As we've already made known to you on previous occasions — we were present at the official unveiling of the new model — the fourth generation of the SEAT Leon stands out for a significant technological leap, with some of these new elements that can be identified in this video.

More digital, less buttons

Among them we have the new digital instrument panel and the infotainment system's 10″ screen (in a much higher position compared to its predecessor), which in addition to being tactile, also allows the control of some functionalities via gestures. The reinforcement of the digital experience inside the new Leon was a key point in the development of its interior. As David Jofré, interior designer at SEAT says:

“The design and digital departments have worked as one since the beginning to bring out the best in each world. The goal was to provide a fully digital experience, reducing the physical buttons as much as possible, so that with just one look you could access all the content, it has been a complete revolution in our areas, digital and interior design, and we can say that with pride that we managed to transform it into something of great beauty”.

It is still possible to observe the new, small shift-by-wire gearbox knob, that is, it no longer has a mechanical connection to the gearbox, with its action now being defined by electronic impulses.

Ambient lighting, more than decoration

Finally, a highlight is the new interior design, marked by a top line that extends through the doors and creates new opportunities for interior ambient lighting. Again David Jofre:

“We've introduced new design features on the dashboard and doors to create an enveloping effect. This feeling is created by the decorative moldings that wrap around the dashboard and continue along the front doors”.

The fine line of visible light, however, is not merely decorative, with David Jofré finishing off: “It also has a number of exceptional features, such as indicators for the presence of motorcycles approaching from the rear”.
