Confirmed: New Mazda3 hatchback and sedan in Los Angeles

Anonim

After a few weeks ago I released a short teaser video for the new Mazda3 the Japanese brand presented a new teaser, and confirmed what we already knew. The compact that competes with the Volkswagen Golf and Ford Focus will be shown to the public at the Los Angeles Motor Show — and Razão Automóvel will be there.

In this new teaser the brand also confirms what was already expected: the Mazda3 will be available both as a hatchback and a sedan (three-volume saloon). Mazda said its new model is a more mature interpretation of the Kodo design philosophy it has been implementing across its range, drawing inspiration from the Mazda Kai concept, unveiled at last year's Tokyo Motor Show.

The brand also took the opportunity to mention that the new Mazda3 will use a new generation of SKYACTIV-Vehicle Architecture, thus confirming the use of a new platform. By testing the prototype — already with the new engine and platform — we could see that it brings improvements in terms of driving refinement by offering greater torsional rigidity and lower levels of noise and vibration.

The Mazda Kai concept is the source of inspiration for the new Mazda3. It remains to be seen how much of the prototype will make it to the production car.

The biggest attraction is under the bonnet

Despite the new platform and the Mazda Kai concept-inspired design, what is already known about the Mazda3 is the new engine that captures the most attention. The SKYACTIV-X (which we've already had the opportunity to test) is Mazda's big bet, which defends that this gasoline engine is capable of being as or more efficient than a diesel.
